GETTING THINGS DONE

WHAT IS HOLDING YOU BACK?
 Do you find that there are certain things that you just keep putting off?

 I realised that I have been finding reasons not to write my newsletters and blog posts. If that is happening there is always some story or belief about it that is holding me back and that I am using that story as a reason not to do something. So I examined my thinking around writing – and found out the main reason that I am not writing stuff is because it might not be good enough.

 Really? NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR WHO?? My English teacher from 30 years ago??? The literary critic of the New York Times??? Really?? This is stopping me from writing? I just want to write to get a message to people who might want to hear it – not create deathless prose!

 So this is my message: Life is wonderful, amazing and exciting!! It is full of fun and joy!! So do the things you want to do, without worrying whether someone might not like it, or think that it is not good enough! How do you get good at anything? PRACTICE! And can you practice by not doing it?

 So be happy with not being great – you have to be bad before you can get good. Embrace each failure, because it takes you one step closer to greatness! I paint horses because I think they are the brightest, most beautiful creatures on the planet – I paint them every colour of the rainbow, with flames streaming out of their manes, because that is the message I want to get across – Look this is a magical, radiant creature!! I don’t care whether people like the paintings or not – it gives me joy to create them.

 So I am committing to writing newsletters and posts to get this message across to YOU: You are a magical radiant creature! You are far more wonderful than you can ever know, so go and do wonderful amazing things – surprise yourself and the world!

 I THINK THAT IS GOOD ENOUGH.
